Buying a kurta without trying it on feels risky, until you realise you only need four numbers. Here is how to get them, two ways.
The four measurements that matter
Every product page on our site lists these for the actual garment, not a generic size chart: chest, length, shoulder and sleeve. If your numbers are close to one of our sizes on all four, order that size.
Method one: measure a kurta you already own
Lay it flat on a bed, buttoned, no stretching.
- Chest: straight across from armpit to armpit, then double it.
- Length: from the collar seam at the back, straight down to the hem.
- Shoulder: seam to seam, straight across the back.
- Sleeve: from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.
Compare these four numbers directly against the measurement table on the product page.
Method two: measure yourself
No old kurta handy? Use a soft measuring tape, or a piece of string and a ruler.
- Chest: around the fullest part of your chest, tape level, not pulled tight.
- Length: from the base of your neck to where you want the kurta to end, usually just below the knee.
- Shoulder: across your back from one shoulder point to the other.
A kurta is meant to sit looser than a shirt, so add about 4 to 6 inches to your actual chest measurement when comparing to our chart.
Between two sizes?
Go up, not down. A kurta that is slightly loose looks and feels right. One that is tight across the chest never does.
Still not sure?
Message us on WhatsApp with your height and your usual shirt size. Someone from the shop floor, the same people who fit customers across the counter every day, will tell you straight.
Questions we hear at the counter
What if I still order the wrong size?
Exchange it within 7 days at either of our Delhi shops, order number in hand.
Do your sizes run small or large?
Neither, they are true to the measurements listed, which is the whole point of listing real numbers instead of just S, M, L.
I am buying as a gift and cannot measure the person. What do I do?
Ask for their regular shirt size and go with the closest match, slightly bigger if unsure. See our size guide for the full conversion.
